Fishing what drifts by

This is the heart of the mode, and what makes it different from all the others. Items drift around your raft non stop, and you fish them out.

The basic rule

Floating items cannot be picked up by hand. Not by walking over them, not by swimming, not with a hopper. Only one thing works: the fishing rod.

Aim at the item, cast your line, and the item comes to you.

In practice: stand facing the item, aim slightly above it, and cast. The line has to land one block from the item, not on it. If nothing comes, it is almost always because you aimed too far: move two or three blocks closer and cast again.

What you need to know about your rod

Your rod reaches 30 blocks, which covers the area around your raft easily. The line has to land near the item, about one block away.

Some rods do better. The Nautilus Rod catches at three blocks instead of one, so nine times the surface, and you miss far fewer casts. It comes out of the Nautilus Crate, at 8% odds.

And four of the server's rods reel in double the loot: the Rod of the Depths, the Epic Rod and the two fisherman rods.

How long you have to catch it

An item appears about ten blocks from your raft and drifts towards you. It stays five minutes before disappearing. If it bumps into a block and gets stuck, it only lasts thirty seconds.

Past 64 blocks, the server removes it by itself.

How much you reel in per hour, and what it pays:

How many treasures you come across

One floating item in 200 is a treasure at level 1, so a little over one per hour. That share climbs to one in 50 at the last tier, so seven treasures per hour.

That is not much, and it is on purpose: a single legendary treasure pays 200,000 $. Do not count on it though, because legendary only comes out of 1% of treasures, and that prize less than once in five.

What you reel in, and when

At the start, sand, gravel, dirt, stone, coal, iron, copper, flowers, saplings and seeds. Enough to start a base and some crops.

Then your raft level opens the rest:

  • Level 10: lapis.
  • Level 12: gold and redstone.
  • Level 20: diamond.
  • Level 26: quartz.
  • Level 30: iron, copper and coal blocks, worth nine times the ingot.
  • Level 34: emerald.
  • Level 42: ancient debris, and gold, lapis and redstone blocks.
  • Level 50: diamond and emerald blocks.

From level 30 on, plain ingots slowly give way to blocks. That is the real jump in output in this mode, and nobody sees it coming.

Nothing drifts in the Nether or in the End

The system only works in the main world. No point waiting by the water in your Nether.

The items that follow you

Some of the items you reel in cannot be sold and cannot be placed: they are there to push up your raft's value. The My raft's value page lists them.
