The tide
Twice a day, the ocean changes for a quarter of an hour. It is the best moment of the day to fish.
When
At 14:00 and at 21:00, every day, no exceptions. A message announces the start, and another warns you five minutes ahead so you get your rod out.
It lasts 15 minutes, then a last message announces that it is going out.
What it changes
During that quarter of an hour, everything that drifts by is replaced. Not a single bag of sand, dirt, gravel or seeds left: pure ores only.
At the start it is five ores, coal, copper, iron, redstone and lapis. Your raft level adds more: gold at tier 3, diamond at tier 8, emerald at tier 10, ancient debris at tier 18.
That is why the tide is worth so much more than a normal quarter of an hour: everything you reel in is sellable.
How to make the most of it
- Empty your inventory before 14:00 and before 21:00. A full inventory during the tide is loot thrown away.
- Stay on your raft, rod in hand, doing nothing else. A quarter of an hour of pure fishing is worth far more than a quarter of an hour split with something else.
- If you have a Nautilus Rod, this is the moment to bring it out: it catches in a radius three times wider.
What the tide is not
It is not a ranked event. Nobody wins, nobody loses: everyone simply has better items to fish at the same time.
