Getting started

Your very first minutes, in order. The tutorial starts on its own the first time you connect, it walks you through, and it pays well.

Step 1: set foot on Planet Earth

Type /rtp, the command that teleports you far away, and choose Planet Earth. You then pick your continent: Europe, Asia, North or South America, North or South Africa, Oceania, Antarctica, or you let chance decide. You land somewhere on that continent, and that is where it all begins.

Step 2: follow the tutorial

Its eight steps walk you through the essentials, and each one pays:

Go to Planet Earth: 1,000$
Create or join a town: 2,000$
Claim your land: 3,000$
Go to the Resources world: 4,000$
Sell your resources: 5,000$ and 16 gold blocks
Raise your town's value: 10,000$ and 50 gems
Take your town to Level 1: 25,000$
Collect your daily reward: 1 Epic Key

Hold on to the 16 gold blocks from step 5: they are what step 6 needs. The game even stops you selling them in between.

Chat is hidden during the tutorial

To leave you in peace, other players' messages and the server announcements are hidden during the first seven steps. They come back as soon as you reach the eighth, and you have nothing to do to get them.

Do not get this wrong: it is only other people's messages that are hidden. Your commands work normally from the very first second. You can type /ville create, /claim or /rtp without waiting.

If you get stuck before the eighth step, though, you stay without chat. In that case /skiptutoriel ends the tutorial and turns chat straight back on. In exchange you give up the rewards for the steps you skipped.

Your first goals, in order

Found your town: /ville create followed by the name you want. You can also join someone else's with /team list. You need a town before you can claim any land.
Find a spot you like and claim it with /claim. Nobody else will be able to build there.
Collect your starter kit with /kit. It is free. The other kits in the menu do need a rank.
Head into the Resources world with /rtp to mine and cut wood without spoiling the beautiful map.
Sell your surplus with /sell for your first dollars.
Put resources into your town's value with /value. That is the key to levelling up, and the tutorial's 16 gold blocks are perfect for it.
Take your town to Level 1 in /amelioration. It needs 5,000$ in the town bank.
Collect your daily reward with /dailylog.

Your first night

At night monsters spawn in the dark, and the game is set to Hard here: they hurt. Three moves are enough. Dig a hole in the ground and seal it behind you, or put up four walls and a roof. Place torches everywhere inside, a monster will not spawn in light. And place a bed to skip the night in one go.

No player can hurt you, but monsters can.

The little tricks of the early game

Spawn has no enchanting table. Craft your own.
Your seeds need light and water within four blocks to grow.
Place a bed and right click it to choose where you respawn. On phone, that is a long press.
To stop dropping your items by accident, there is a protection in /settings.
