Growing my town

Everything your town is allowed to do depends on its level. Here are the real numbers, so you know where you are heading.

What each level unlocks

  • Claims: 4 to start with, 50 at Level 10, 125 at Level 25, 250 at Level 50, 500 at Level 100. Past 24 claims, they cost you rent every Monday.
  • Member slots: 3 to start with, 8 at Level 10, 15 at Level 25, 26 at Level 50, 50 at Level 100.
  • Teleport points: none to start with, 1 at Level 1, up to 5 at Level 5.
  • Hoppers: 50 to start with, 550 at Level 10, 1,300 at Level 25, 2,550 at Level 50, 10,000 at Level 100.
  • Pistons: 50 to start with, 100 at Level 10, 175 at Level 25, 300 at Level 50, 1,000 at Level 100.

Two different speeds, worth knowing before you plan. Claims and member slots climb steadily, around 5 claims and half a member per level, from start to finish.

Hoppers and pistons also climb at a constant step up to Level 50, +50 hoppers and +5 pistons per level, then the step speeds up sharply over the second half: around +149 hoppers and +14 pistons per level between 50 and 100.

Yes, hoppers and pistons are counted

That is the first question from everyone who likes building machines. The answer is yes, and the game shows you: every time you place or break one, a counter appears at the bottom of your screen, something like 34/50.

When you hit the limit, a red message tells you and the block is not placed. You then have to either break one somewhere else, or gain a level.

Only placed blocks are counted. A hopper minecart, which is a vehicle and not a block, does not go into the count: it is a perfectly legal way to move items without eating into your budget.

These limits apply to the whole town, not per player. With three of you in a town, you share the same 50 starting hoppers: agree with each other before you each launch your own farm.

Villagers

They work normally, and you can build your trading hall at home. Trading with them is a role permission in your town: the Leader, the Officer and the Member can trade with your villagers, a visitor cannot. They count, like everything else, towards Planet Earth's creature limit.

Why your monster farm brings in nothing, and what your machines do while you are disconnected:

What growing costs

Two expenses, and only one of them is regular.

Levels are paid for once: 106,600$ for the first ten, 11,703,400$ to reach Level 40. The Founding my town page gives the tiers.

Rent, on the other hand, comes back every week, from the 25th claim on. It is the only expense that lands even when you are not playing, and the Monday's rent page gives the full table.

The right instinct

Only claim what you really use. Twenty well built claims beat sixty half empty ones: it is free, and there is nothing to keep an eye on.
