My island's value
It is this mode's most unusual mechanic, and the one people understand last. It decides your whole progress.
What it is for
From level 5 on, your island no longer goes up with money alone: it also needs island value. Without it, the upgrade button refuses, even with a full bank.
How you earn it
Not by building, unlike a lot of other servers. Here, you drop specific items into /value, and each item is worth points.
Those items come to you on their own while you play.
The twelve items that count
Four activities, three items each, from the most common to the rarest:
- Breaking ore: Green Gem, Blue Gem, Red Gem.
- Cutting wood: Mossy Bundle, Forked Branch, Wooden Log.
- Harvesting ripe crops: Clover, Nectar, Floral Essence.
- Killing monsters: Beast Fang, Spectral Skull, Monster Soul.
The first on each line is worth 1 point, the second 5 points, the third 20 points.
Which activity pays the most
Those items do not drop all the time. On average:
- Mining: about 1 block in 10 gives the first item, 1 in 30 the second, 1 in 100 the third. Ancient debris climbs to 1 in 5.
- Cutting wood: from 1 log in 10 for the fast growing trees, to 1 in 5 for the slowest. Dark oak is the best.
- Harvesting: half as often.
- Killing monsters: three times less often.
If you want island value, the pickaxe and the axe are therefore far more efficient than the sword.
How to deposit
Type /value, put your items in the window, and confirm. The window's title tells you what it is going to be worth before you confirm.
What you deposit adds to a total that never goes back down. Upgrading your island does not use it up: you build up over your whole life, and each tier unlocks when the total goes past it.
Watch out for one word: the window talks about island levels, but they really are value points. Your island itself only goes up through the upgrade button.
/value list shows the full list if you have a doubt about an item.
How much you really need
- 10 value for level 5
- 200 for level 10
- 2,000 for level 25
- 15,000 for level 40
Put another way: the first levels go by in one evening of harvesting. The next ones mean aiming for the 20 point items.
The mistake not to make
Do not sell these twelve items at the /sell or on the market. They are only good for this, and nothing else raises your island's value.
